After lab testing, authorities determined the real cause:
👉 The eagles had been poisoned by a highly toxic pesticide called carbofuran.
The poison was likely placed on a dead animal (like a raccoon or other bait) to kill predators such as coyotes. The eagles then fed on the contaminated carcass and died shortly after, since carbofuran is extremely lethal even in small amounts.
